Amy Shannon is a nonprofit management consultant, primarily assisting foundations and NGO’s with program design and project evaluation. She was a co-founder of Alianza Americas and served on the staff of that transnational network of immigrant-led and immigrant-serving organizations until June, 2020. She has worked extensively in philanthropy, both as a consultant and as a program officer in the Environment Programs at the C.S. Mott Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. For both foundations, she developed and managed grant portfolios in Mexico, and the Andean Amazon region. Amy received her undergraduate degree in Anthropology. She later pursued a Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, where she conducted research on rural financial systems, sustainable enterprise, and social marketing. Amy has lived and worked extensively in Latin America, and now resides in Flagstaff, AZ.
Nearly 3 decades of experience as a non-profit leader, strategy and evaluation consultant, and foundation advisor. Bilingual (Spanish-English) with experience in Latin America and working in Latin American immigrant communities in the United States. I bridge a commitment to global and transnational engagement with environmental sustainability, economic and social justice and local activism.
